Language can be broken down into 5 categories:
Morphology: word units (think: morph a word by slightly changing it)
Phonology: sounds (think: phone)
Syntax: sentence structure (think: it’s a sin to make confusing sentences)
Pragmatics: real life use (think: practical use)
Semantics: word meaning (think: oh man, I forget what that means)
Language disorders occur when there is an issue with one or more of these domains. These are separate from speech disorders.
